Greetings, and fondest welcomes to the newest corner of my *~ Enchanted Kingdom ~*. This site is a journey through the romance and intrigue of the Victorian/Pre-Raphaelite era, where gentleness and beauty are prized, and love is always triumphant. This era is notorious not only for its many achievements in art, music, literature, and theatre, but also as the era of romance and enlightenment, despite an outward appearance of Puritan-esque repression. Here you will find many remnants of an era gone by...examples of art, literature, music, as well as information on customs and behaviours of the time, and the figures that both defined and defied them. Hopefully, your journey shall be a pleasant one. Do feel free to browse about all the rooms of my Victorian Manor, and perhaps you'll later wish to take a stroll through the garden. This page is brand new, and very much under construction, so please, do bear with me. Don't be too disappointed if you find I've not moved in to many of the rooms of the Manor yet..as you well realise, it's a huge and time consuming endeavour. Please, if you enjoy your visit to this, or any other of my pages, take the time to drop me a line in my guestbook. I love to know who's stopping by to visit me.
A brief description of the rooms in the house and the garden: *~ The Drawing Room ~*: This is the room dealing with writing and correspondences. A history of Victorian letter-writing,proper ettiquette in correspondence, and other topics may be found here. In addition, Victorian Calling Cards,Poetry Cards, and Friendship Cards are kept for your use, as well as a bit on love letters and the beauty of language.
*~ The Sitting Room ~*: The sitting room is the room in which callers are recieved and may be entertained. Here, you'll find a bit on the rules of Victorian courtship and introductions. More features will be added shortly, of course.
*~ The Parlour ~*: The parlour is a lovely room for entertaining, in which tea is often taken. Here, you'll find my scrapbook: gifts, cards, poems, and pages from online friends (and even an admirer or two..*lol*). You'll also find special things I've posted for others, my slambook, webrings and awards my sites are affiliated with, and so on. This room is not yet working, but I shall have it open shortly.
*~ The Dance Hall ~*: The dance hall is, of course, a place of entertainment, music, dancing, and flirtation. Here, you'll find a bit on how to behave at social events in the Victorian age, the custom of the dance card, and much more. When I begin to entertain here, you'll all certainly be invited.
*~ The Kitchen ~*: Here, you'll find recipes and a history of the British tea, a favourite custom of mine that is thankfully still in practise.
*~ The Dining Room ~*: This room is home to assorted things..whatever crosses my mind to put on this site, but doesn't really have a home.
*~ The Private Chambers ~*: Here you'll find a more personal aspect of the site, including my online journal, favourite quotes and poems, original writings, and reflections on life, love, art, and the many other things that are special to me. The private chambers are not currently open, but should be unlocked shortly.
*~ The Art Galleries ~*: Here you'll find a bit on art, music, literature, and poetry of the era, and the society and people who influenced it. Eventually, *~ The Library ~* and *~ The Conservatory ~* will be added, and provide a wealth of information. This is a huge endeavour, and with my schedule, I'd not look for this to happen for quite awhile yet.
*~ The Guest Cottage ~*: A sanctuary for my most treasured guests...
*~ The Powder Room ~*: Here you'll find a bit on perfumes, cosmetics, and some fragrant recipes you can try in your own home.
